Remember that fitness is not a single point you want to be at; it’s a joyful, fulfilling quest of curiosity.

Having that in mind, lets get to the pillars of fitness:

1. Consistency is the holy grail

It doesn’t matter how meticulous of a plan you have devised. When you don’t even bear it for more than a month, it’s trash to be tossed out. So go realistic with your planning. Do not limit yourself to a few certain foods. Do not buy crazy programs requiring you to be 24/7 in the gym. Have your not-so-healthy favorite meals every once in a while, and overall, try to enjoy the path as much as possible. If you think you won’t be able to commit to that plan for life or years to come, get rid of that plan as soon as you can.

2. Be patient

It’s somehow related to the previously mentioned consistency. You have to be patient enough to be able to stay consistent. There is nothing good in the world you can achieve in one miraculous night. If you got it at one night, I’m sorry, the odds are high you will lose it at one another night.

Fitness is the same. You have to be in a continuous cycle of hard-work-then-recovery. But it doesn’t mean that you won’t see results until after years. The results show themselves after days and weeks – which keeps you motivated to push harder than last time – and they gradually pile up.

So if you compare your looks and fitness level with your 2 years ago, you will notice the significant changes in your body and mind.

3. Accept yourself as who you are

If there is something that you can change for the better, you ought to change it. Holding on to it is wrong. But sometimes, we have some traits we may not like as much that cannot be changed. It doesn’t mean we should get disappointed by that. Everybody is different. That disappointment stems from our false beliefs and comparing ourselves to others we may think are the epitome. And to some degree, that’s the culture’s fault that makes us constantly compare ourselves to others that society mistakenly sets as standard.

Hopefully, we live in an era where diversity is acknowledged more than ever. So if you have more filling legs than your peers, if you store more fat in your belly, or if you don’t have the chest of the young Arnold, or you’re not as tall as Ryan Reynolds or as short as Martin Short, there’s nothing wrong with you; you are just you. You are a distinct style of yourself. Many people may yearn for the things you own. So respect yourself.

Above, we didn’t talk about how many calories you need to lose weight, how many reps you need on your bench press, how much protein to build muscle, what angle to set the bench for the incline press – actually, 30 degrees – or how much rest between sets. All of them are advantageous to know, but before, you need to set the right attitude and know the importance of what we discussed, so then you could do all the more technical tips and sustain them for life.

So put consistency, patience, and acceptance as your mantras for an enjoyable and fruitful fit life.

And, TAKE IT EASY!
